Visiting Days and Hours

The 15th Istanbul Biennial can be visited free of charge at all venues.

Istanbul Modern, Galata Greek Primary School, ARK Kültür, Küçük Mustafa Paşa Hammam and Yoğunluk Artist Atelier are open every day except Monday between 10.00 and 18.00. Istanbul Modern is open until 20.00 on Thursday.

Pera Museum is open from 10.00 to 19.00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; from 10.00 to 22.00 on Friday and from 12.00 to 18.00 on Sunday. The Museum is closed on Monday.

All the Biennial venues will be open to visit on the first Monday after the opening, 18 September.

Visitor Registration

In order to learn more about visitors’ behaviour and to provide them with further information regarding its other activities, this year, İKSV begins using a QR code system for Biennial visits. You may register for a personal QR code that will enable you to visit the Biennial at all venues by filling out the form at or at registration desks at the venues. Registering online prior to visit is advised to avoid queues at the entrances. Visitors will not have to present IDs.

Guided Tours

Guided Tours Sponsored by Koç Holding

Guided tours to the 15th Istanbul Biennial are held every day except Mondays throughout the duration of the Biennial, at Istanbul Modern, Galata Greek Primary School and Pera Museum. Single tickets give access to a guided tour in one venue only, while a combined ticket is valid for all venues.

Guided tours last for about an hour and are conducted by students majoring in art history or fine art, all with specialist knowledge of the Biennial exhibition obtained under the supervision of scholar and museologist Mine Küçük. Guided tours enable visitors to get a closer look at the artworks, to learn about the exhibition and its conceptual framework, and to inquire further about the works and the artists.

Children and Youth

Young People Experience the Biennial with the Support of Koç Holding

Young audience are invited to question, debate and make new work around the notions of home, neighbours and neighbourhoods on the occasion of the 15th Istanbul Biennial; thanks to a dedicated education programme for children and young people conceived in collaboration with Polly Brannan and Pera Education. Young audiences have the chance to participate in bespoke tours, workshops, discussions, walks, mappings and other events. Moreover, their work will be shared through various online platforms during the course of the Istanbul Biennial.

All the workshops presented as part of the Education Programme of the 15th Istanbul Biennial, with the support of Koç Holding and in collaboration with Pera Education, are free of admissions. Reservation via e-mail is required.

The workshops take place only when the groups reach a certain number of participants. Getting around the city

Public transport in Istanbul is maintained by IETT services and encompasses metro, ferry, tram and bus. Purchasing an ‘Istanbul Kart’ will enable you to travel within the city for a reduced fee. The Istanbul Kart can be purchased in the majority of kiosks near bus stops and ports for 10 TL and is automatically activated. You can load credits onto the cards at any kiosk or ticket machine at all stations and ports.

Getting from the airports to Taksim Square

Most Biennial venues are walking distance from Taksim Square, the city centre. You can reach Taksim from the Atatürk Airport by metro or on the Havabus shuttles. To reach the city centre from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which is on the Asian side of the city, use the Havabus shuttles.
